Famous Bow Tie Wearers: Justin Timberlake

Posted by Lacey Wilcox on 17th Jul 2015

There’s a lot we could say about Justin Timberlake. We could talk about how he’s funny, smart, and iconic like a modern day Sinatra, but we’d rather talk about his neckwear of choice:  the bow tie. We’ve held true to our thesis that famous bow tie wearers have shaped the modern world, and while we’ve discussed men who changed the world politically and ideologically, now we want to talk about the dapper deftness of another famous bow tie wearer:  showbiz’s Justin Timberlake.

Like we said though, we only want to talk about Justin Timberlake’s bow ties. We know you don’t care anything about the history we’ve all heard so much about:  like how he escaped from The Mickey Mouse Club only to find his way into the oft maligned boy band, ‘N Sync. You can’t say Timberlake hasn’t paid his dues.

But paying cruel dues that Hollywood sometimes doles out couldn’t keep JT down. You know what else couldn’t keep JT down? That haircut that he had.

Despite this, Timberlake rose from the ashes like a phoenix, donning that symmetrical, masculine icon:  the bow tie.

Sometimes a bow tie is all it takes, fellas. One day you could be teetering toward becoming the next Lance Bass, and then all of the sudden, you’re the next Justin Timberlake. While most of us are Joey Fatones, JT is different. JT is different from all of us. He’s funnier, he’s probably smarter, and he’s way more handsome.

Of course you know what he’s done after ’N Sync so why do we need to reiterate it? JT is a plain ol’ fashioned superstar. He’s as good an actor as he is talented musical act.  Timberlake is constantly reinventing himself. Think about this, he’s one of the only guys who could steal your girlfriend at every stage throughout your life, yet you’d still want to have a beer with him. Your elementary girl loved him on Mickey Mouse, your middle school girl loved ’N Sync (and your high school girl loved them too). Your first college girl, the movie buff, loved him after Black Snake Moan (2006), and your second college girl, the partier, loved him because he brought “SexyBack”. But every since you married her she loves him for his philanthropy, or so she says. You even like him now too, especially after The Lonely Island stuff and The Social Network (2010). He’s an icon.

Every time JT stares at defeat through the lens of boy band shades or a terrible movie’s camera he bounces back hard, but graceful, and always on beat. Almost like he’s about to fly.

It’s no wonder Justin Timberlake is one of the most famous bow tie wearers of all time. The guy moves seamlessly and tenaciously throughout any and every genre all in an effort to entertain. He’s a singer, an actor, and he’s one of the funniest guests to ever appear on SNL. Yeah, he’s all dat. You can’t be all dat if you if you’re unwilling to take a risk. We’re sure that’s what the bow tie is all about. In these slouchy times any kind of tie is becoming rare, but only the bold wear the rarest.

Only the boldest wear a bow tie. When you add some rare material like hardwood to the mix, we think you’ve taken the first step becoming more Justin Timberlake and less Joey Fatone. And we could all use less Joey Fatone.

  1. My husband and I love watching Shark Tank and came across your segment. Not only did my husband’s bow tie catch my eye 3 years ago, your wooden bow ties and wooden flower button caught our attention. We even bought one for his brother. Great job guys!!

  2. I found two guys about a week before my wedding and ordered a lapel flower. It was in the mail the next day and delivered to me ahead of my wedding. It looked great, I had a ton of compliments on it and people coming up after to take a look at it. Overall a great product that I would recommend to anyone looking for something unique. My photographer wife now wants to order a bow tie to match so she can use it for a stylized shoot in the future. Thanks,

Copy of Paduak Dot – Gray Denim

This is not your average pocket square. The heather gray cotton fabric square with contrasting edge is accented with vibrant Paduak wood, you heard us right, WOOD! We use a thin wood we precisely cut into polka dots that create a border that allows the fabric to move and fold to fit perfectly into your pocket. You can do an one point fold, a puff pocket or our personal favorite for this design, the easy straight fold keeping the polka dots folded straight across. This is truely a unique accessory you will want to keep in the family.

Annapolis Wooden Lapel Flower

The Annapolis wooden lapel flower adds a brilliant pop of color to any dull look. The vibrant, yet sophisticated, accessory is made of beautiful Maple wood and is paired with a red and pink layered fabric centerpiece making it a vital addition to every neutral outfit.

  1. What a great gift for our Doctor

  2. I ordered this product for my wedding and needless to say it was one of the star attractions. The quality and workmanship that’s gone into this is second to none. I will be buying more!

  3. I couldn’t wait for it to arrive to see if it was as nice as the pictures showed and it was. I showed this to my co-workers and 2 of them ordered one for themselves. My son loved it on Christmas morning, and received so many complements at work the next day . If your looking for something different this is it.

  4. This was a pretty awesome gift. The kid loved it! I was very happy with the quality and plan to order another one for my soon-to-be stepson as his groomsmen gift (he’s 13 and loved the bow tie as well).

  5. Item arrived promptly and in excellent condition recipient lived the gift.

  6. My son loved his tie. He received it for Christmas and will be wearing it this week, he can’t wait!!! The tie was delivered ahead of the scheduled delivery time and was packaged nicely. Also I had several delivery questions, as I was ordering so close to Christmas, and spoke with their customer service and they were very courteous and helpful! Very satisfied!

  7. The bow tie came faster than expected. The packaging was elegant and perfect for a wooden bow tie. The skyline was legitimate for Mpls. My only two minus points are as follows: The wood seemed a little thin. I wish we had the chance to choose the pattern on the skyline ties.

Otherwise, very happy with the product.

  8. I hesitantly purchased this tie for my husband whom is very conservative,, opionated and difficult to please. To my surprise he loved it. Thanks

  9. It looks great however the Toronto skyline looks more like Seattle. The main ball of the CN Tower needs to be higher in the bow tie. You should consult more Toronto skyline photos.

  10. Cyber Monday allowed me to purchase something unique and made here in the USA! He is very excited to wear it. And now no matter where he ends up he will always have his home city close to his heart.

A Groom's Wedding Responsibilities, Part 2

Posted by Lacey Wilcox on 3rd Jul 2015

We started a blog series last week to make sure all the procrastinating grooms out there are taking care of their responsibilities for their wedding. We’re not claiming that this is a comprehensive list of all of the groom’s wedding responsibilities, but we are claiming that it’ll be an excellent place for you to start. We’ll guarantee that if you follow this list of duties of the groom, you’ll come off looking every bit as suave as we know you to be.

Put your guest list together

This groom duty is going to be more time consuming than you think. Before you and your bride decide who to invite to your wedding, you need to determine how large you want your guest list to be. Then, you and your bride can decide which family and friends to include on your wedding guest list, and even make notes about where you might want them to sit if you’re having a dinner (we highly recommend keeping Uncle Albert from the bar if he gets tipsy easily). As a general rule, invitations need to be sent out around eight weeks before the wedding.

Plan the Honeymoon

One of the groom’s most important wedding responsibilities is to plan the honeymoon. In your granddad’s day, this would have been solely his responsibility. Now we know you’re a classic gentleman and there’s a certain part of you that’s traditional and maybe even a little old-fashioned. However, couples these days are doing this one task together more and more. Nowadays, it is the groom’s duty to get a good vibe from his fiancée on what kind of locale you would both enjoy for the honeymoon.

Picking Out Wedding Bands

Yes, it is the groom’s duty to buy another ring. But trust us, it’s a lot easier than the first one, and only a fraction of the cost… hopefully. The good thing is you get to pick out your own wedding band. We know you’re a distinguished gentleman so you don’t need much help choosing a great accessory. Trust us though, you can’t go wrong with wearing gold or silver. And she gets to choose hers too, so pressure relieved.

Making it Legal

It’s also the groom’s responsibility to arrange the purchasing of the marriage license. You’ll probably have to go to the courthouse and then you’ll want to be sure you get your preacher to sign it, and maybe you have to have a witness from the county commissioner’s court in some places and prick your fingers for a blood oath in others. Maybe you have to take anger management classes. Look we don’t know how your state does it, but it’s on you to figure it out.

Don’t Loose Your Keys

Don’t forget to have a car ready to whisk you two love birds away after the ceremony. The last thing you want to do is be stranded and unable to get to your own wedding reception in a hasty as possible manner. This sounds simple, but trust us things can pretty complicated on that day. It’s the groom’s responsibility to make sure you guys are ready to leave as soon as its time. By that time you’re both going to need some food pretty bad and she’ll hardly be able to squeeze out another smile on account of her shoes and sleep deprived state.

If you follow our groom’s wedding responsibilities with attention to detail, which we know your capable of (I mean, you wear Two Guys Bow Ties products) you’re going to get along just fine. You’re going to know exactly what needs to be done, before it needs to be done. Your soon-to-be father-in-law is going to be resting a lot easier when he sees you taking care of business like a boss, or Tom Cruise, depending on how old he is.

    Quick delivery.
  2. I bought the Francis combo to wear on my wedding day and couldn’t be more excited about it. I love the quality and design and their packaging shows it. I bought my groomsmen bow ties also to wear and as their groomsmen gift.

Wooden Bow Ties

Harold is quirky, yet striking at the same time. It’s smooth large shape collectively with it’s eye catching black and white herringbone center piece print and Padauk Wood make it a statement piece that will complete your look. Yes, we found the missing wooden bow tie you’ve long been looking for. You’re welcome..

  1. I ordered this combo because I am in love with the look of each of the products. I purchased the hat for myself and the tie for a friend. Both are beautiful and crafted with such care. I am extremely happy with both products and will definitely purchase more in the future.
  2. My hubby loves the hat and bow tie. That’s not quite true. Actually I love the bow tie and wear it in my hair when Ray wears the hat. Beautiful product. Thank you for wonderful service
  3. I saw the show on Shark Tank and have been intrigued by your product. I am not disappointed. Plus I made errors in ordering and working with your people was simple and easy. The switcharoo was flawless. Thank you

As Seen on SHARK TANK

Posted by Two Guys Bow Ties on 23rd Oct 2015

It was officially two weeks ago today since our company aired on the hit TV show, Shark Tank, on ABC. Which also means, it has been four weeks ago today since we found out our segment was even going to be on the show. What an amazing ride this last month has been!

adam-teague-tim-paslay-two-guys-bowtie-company-3

It all started when we went to our first open audition last summer in Oklahoma City. Only the first 500 attending the audition were guaranteed to be seen by casting officials, so Tim drove down at 5 a.m. to get a place in line at the Devon Boathouse. He stood in the rain wearing his “nice dress clothes” until 10 a.m., when we were allowed inside.

But instead of a quiet room where the attention is seemingly focused on just one or two potential contestants, this casting call involved a row of picnic tables with one casting person behind each, listening to the one-minute pitch — all at the same time.

There was definitely a moment in our audition when the girl we were pitching to — who was acting moderately disinterested — set down her cell phone and asked us to repeat what we had said. At that point, we could tell we had definitely gotten her attention.

What was supposed to be a one-minute presentation turned into 10 to 15 minutes and, pretty soon, the other contestants were gone and the rest of the casting staff was coming over to ask us about our products.

After we had left that night, we could tell we made a good impression, and felt we had done the best we could.

But the road to getting on the TV show became much more involved. Once we were notified we had made the next round, there were follow-up phone interviews, an audition video to make, paperwork to file, background checks, producers to work with on crafting our pitch, etc. And along with every step, we were told there was no guarantee we would make it on the show.

Finally in July, we were asked to fly to Los Angeles to tape our segment for the show. The producers did a good job of preparing us for the show, but the reality of what was happening didn’t hit us until taping time. When those huge doors open and you walk down that hall, it gets really real, real fast.

When we walked into the Tank, they asked us to pause for 30 seconds while they took some display shots, then they said go, and we started our pitch. No producer stopped us, so it really was just a conversation between us and the sharks.

daymond-john-3

After close to 45 minutes of being in the Tank, we walked out with smiles on our faces after making a deal with Daymond. But the process wasn’t over yet! We still had paper work to fill out, conference calls, and Skype appointments to make. But after several months on wondering if our segment was going to be chosen to air, we finally found out at the end of September we were in!

Our episode aired on October 9th, and we hosted a “Watch Party” with our employees, friends, and family at our Tulsa shop. It was incredible to see the amount of support we got from our hometown of Tulsa, as well as people all over the country and even the world.

Since then, we have been able to grow our team from 7 people to 13 people and are looking to even hire a handful more. We have been able to become more efficient in our making process while maintaining the utmost quality that we require, and our sales in one month have already beat last year’s numbers!

All in all, this whole Shark Tank experience has been great, we are so thankful for the opportunities we’ve been given as a result of it, and we’re excited for this year’s holiday season.
