As a local business that creates all of our products here in Tulsa, we pride ourselves in labeling our handcrafted accessories as American Made. Before we tell you how we plan on celebrating with you all, we’d like to share with you a bit more about the inspiration behind what we do.

The materials we use are sourced from other local businesses in the state of Oklahoma, as well as a few organizations across our country. It’s important to us that our company invests in our country, invests in creating jobs locally, and invests in other local businesses as well.

Each one of our bow ties and lapel flowers were named in honor of the hardworking men and women that built our country into the great nation it is today. Cities within the original thirteen colonies are where we gained our inspiration for our innovative take on the traditional lapel flower. Whether their unique designs feature a fabric centerpiece, or stand alone in an all-wood arrangement, your favorite lapel style adds a dapper touch to any occasion.

So, in honor of our nation’s Independence Day, we are offering a ONE-DAY (In-Store Only) Sale to our loyal customers and biggest supporters. Differences between Main Wood Types We Offer: Part 2

Posted by Two Guys Bow Ties on 21st Jul 2016

mr-t-2

One of our favorite exotic wood species is Zebrawood. It’s easily recognized for it’s light brown/cream color with dark blackish brown streaks vaguely resembling a zebra’s stripes. These stripes can be either chaotic and wavy, or somewhat uniform in appearance. Even though it’s strong and has a fairly high density, the bold appearance is it’s most stunning point of interest. (“Mr. T” pictured above–find it here)

frank-2

Bocote, another exotic species we offer, has a yellowish brown body with dramatic dark brown to almost black stripes. This natural grain patterning is quite striking, and it’s not uncommon to see “eyes” (similar to knots) and other figurings in it. Finished off with a naturally oily/waxy feel and great luster, it’s no wonder this wood type is on our list of crowd favorites. (“Frank” pictured above–find it here)

russell-2

Black Ebony, a dense black hardwood, is actually dense enough to sink in water. It’s finely textured and has a very smooth finish, making it one of the more valuable and expensive types of wood in the world. Typically, Black Ebony does not grow in thick stands or under closed cover but prefers a more solitary existence, often taking hold in rocky and infertile soils where other plants can’t survive. During its early years it develops an extensive system of roots to sustain its life during the long months of the African dry season. Its growth is incremental and take decades to grow even 10 feet and mature into it’s coveted pure black color. (“Russell” pictured above–find it here)

arthur-2

Rosewood, on the other hand, has a beautifully rich dark reddish brown color. It’s high quality feel and appearance is a great choice for wood-workers and the guy who seems to have everything. (“Arthur” pictured above–find it here)

One of our most unique wood types, Purple Heart, is native to tropical regions of Central and South America. With more exposure, it’s freshly cut, dull grayish/purplish color becomes a deeper eggplant purple. (Do note, however, when exposed to large amounts of UV light, the color may shift to a dark brown with purple hues.) It’s strength is great for both form and function, and with a splash of color, it’s no wonder it’s labeled one of our most unique bow tie styles. (“Victor” pictured above–find it here)

Skyline Wooden Bow Ties

Posted by Two Guys Bow Ties on 9th May 2016

Handmade right here in Oklahoma, this distinctive line of wooden bow ties have quickly become the most talked about style to date. Where hometown pride meets innovative style, each bow tie features a front-etched skyline of the city of your choosing.

There are four main wood types we offer as a part of our stock designs. These include: Walnut, Maple, Sapele, and Padauk (pictured below from left to right). The Walnut and Padauk woods are paired with a neutral gray centerpiece, while the Maple and Sapele wood types feature an eye-catching blue fabric. All four pairings are specifically chosen to compliment the wood’s tone and natural grain, as well as their unique variations. You can find these styles on our website by clicking here.

However, similar to our custom bow tie builder on our website, we also have a page where you are able to choose your own wood type, skyline, as well as the center fabric to completely customize your cityscape wooden bow tie to make the perfect gift for someone you love or to match a specific outfit in your wardrobe. The link to design your custom skyline bow tie can be found here. We have 8 wood types and 35 fabrics for you to select from with the price ranging from $75 to $90 depending on the wood species you decide on. Like the rest of our wooden bow ties, the adjustable elastic band sits snugly around the shirt collar for a comfortable fit.

Currently we offer over 60 cityscapes including:

Once your skyline bow tie is ordered, our maker’s process takes about 2-3 days as each skyline is handcrafted to order. As soon as the wood piece is hand selected, laser etched, and the fabric and strap are carefully secured, you receive an email notifying you that your USA made wooden bow tie is on it’s way to your front door!

But don’t forget to post a photo of your new tie on Instagram or Facebook when it arrives and tag us in it! We love hearing from you all.

James Wolpert Has the Voice and The Right Accessories

Posted by Sarah Mendelsohn on 25th Nov 2013

There’s no denying that NBC’s The Voice contestant, James Wolpert, has an incredibly commanding voice. Each episode he continues to surprise with his song choices and great energy on stage, but we’ve recently also come to notice that Wolpert has more than just a unique voice. The singer also seems to have an impeccable sense of style. From colorful knit sweaters to vibrant tailored blazers, we’re always excited to see what James Wolpert will be wearing with each new episode. So, you can only imagine our surprise when we noticed one of our own wooden accessories on Wolpert ‘s blazer on last night’s episode. The Voice contestant managed to even further up his style game with one of Two Guys amazing wooden flower lapels that easily added an extra edge to the singer’s usual prim and proper look.

We’re also happy to say that Wolpert’s team followed up with Two Guys Bow Ties Co. and let us know how much he loved wearing our wooden flower lapel. Finding a newfound fan of wooden accessories, we recently made some more custom lapels for Wolpert that you can expect to see on an upcoming concert he’ll be performing in with Cole Vosbury. We’re excited to see how he styles it next and will continue keeping up with both his music and stylish ensembles.

You can also order a wooden flower lapel straight from our online store. We are even able to customize them. Check out our immense offering of both wooden bow ties and wooden flower lapels on Two Guys Bow Ties online store. You know we’ll be on the lookout for how our customers style their wooden accessories too.

Innovative Yet Classic: Wooden Accessories on The Tonight Show

Posted by Sarah Mendelsohn on 6th Feb 2014

This month marked the end of an era at NBC, as the television network bid a final, emotion filled adieu to comedian and talk show host, Jay Leno. Leno’s seemingly endless tenure as the host of The Tonight Show was celebrated for its continuously high ratings, varied celebrity guests, and the most remarkable comeback in late night talk show history. In honor of his epic run, Leno’s final Tonight Show included many of the famous faces he has invited to the show throughout his time there including Billy Crystal, Jack Black, Kim Kardashian, Jim Parsons, Oprah Winfrey, Sheryl Crow, Carol Burnett and Clippers point guard- Chris Paul. Although all of these special guests dressed for the occasion, one in particular caught our attention. Basketball player, Chris Paul, wore our favorite look, dressed in springtime green trousers, a prim blue button down shirt and a gray blazer. To top it all off, Paul added one of our unique wooden flower lapels. The stylish ensemble made for an unforgettable fashion statement on Leno’s legendary last show.

The Tonight Show saw a huge revamp switching coasts and hosts, with Leno’s replacement, the young and vivacious Jimmy Fallon debuting the show in New York. Just as classic as Jay Leno’s last show, Jimmy Fallon brought on a great roster of celebrities, lots of laughs and good music performed by The Roots, the amazing band who previously complemented him on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Arguably the most well known member of the Grammy award-winning band, front man, Questlove seemed to take a hint from Chris Paul’s appearance on the show. He dressed for the big occasion in a navy tailored suit, black button down shirt and a Two Guys Bow Ties Floyd wooden bow tie. Sporting a big smile and great style, Questlove definitely won our vote for best dressed of the night.

We think it’s safe to say that Two Guys Bow Ties can provide both the class that comes with Jay Leno’s legacy and the fresh excitement that Jimmy Fallon is bringing to the show. Two Guys wooden bow ties and flower lapels are available online at twoguysbowties.com. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to look like a Tonight Show guest star!
