Daniella + Ross: A Colorful Palm Springs Wedding

Daniella and Ross’ Palm Springs wedding may be one of the most beautiful you have ever seen. Set at the Parker, this Palm Spring, CA wedding is full of colorful, character, and the perfect mix of the couple’s personality and style. We loved getting to see one of our wooden bow ties featured in the mix.

For their big day, Daniella and Ross knew they wanted their wedding to really reflect their specific tastes and Ross’s Native American heritage. As Daniella was beginning to plan for their wedding, she knew that the Parker was her dream backdrop for her colorful wedding day, and she knew that she wanted the color palette of her wedding to tie in with her wedding shoes.

With these things in mind, Daniella and Ross worked with their wedding coordinators to create a day that was funky, colorful, and full of life and beauty. The vivid colors give testament to their energy, and the flowers display the beauty of their natural surroundings. The result is funky, beautiful, and full of life.

The couple’s choice in wedding attire shows clearly how trendy they are. The bride wore a beautiful, simple dress with the bright colored shoes that set the tone for the whole wedding. The groom wore a blue suit, polka dot socks, blue suede shoes, and our Ira wooden bow tie. The Ira was the perfect compliment to the blue background of the groom’s attire and to tie in with the abundance of florals and greenery.

At Two Guys Bow Tie Co., we have a wide variety of wood types, designs, and centerpieces to provide a world of possibilities. We also give our customers the option to send in their fabric of choice for us to use in making both the lapel flowers and bow ties. This option is extremely popular as it allows the couple to choose exactly what they want and allow our design team to help decide the perfect wood type to match both the fabric and your desired look.

Several of the wood types include: Sapele, Walnut, Maple, White Oak, Padauk, Wenge, Rosewood, Bocote, Zebrawood, Lacewood, Purple Heart, and more. We also have a large quantity of custom fabric that isn’t on our website but have available for your use. 3. They have sentimental value.

One of our favorite things about the accessories we make, especially the wooden bowties, is how easily it becomes a sentimental piece that can be passed down through the family. For only $10 extra, you can have a custom message engraved on the back of the tie. Some popular engravings include one or more of these: the wedding date, the person’s name or initials, their title in the wedding, a personal note, an inside joke, a nickname, bible verse, or song lyrics. We also can do front etchings for an additional expense, or engrave handwritten notes as well. Some examples we’ve done in the past are: “Marry you, why wooden tie?” and “I love you” written in the handwriting of a loved one. Unlike fabric only accessories that fade and become dirty or faded over time, our wooden bow ties age beautifully.

4. Two birds. One stone.

Wooden bow ties and lapel flowers can be both a groomsman gift and their accessory for the wedding day. Especially with our custom back-engraving option, it is a keepsake for them to enjoy for years to come. To inspire your own creativity, one of the couples we worked with put together a neat ensemble for each of the groomsmen to enjoy using an old cigar box.

Maven Menswear is located in Lafayette, LA, in the heart of Cajun Country. Maven is well-known for carrying unique, trendy fashions, and for providing excellent customer service in a laid back, friendly shopping environment, and we’re proud to share that they carry our wooden bow ties and lapel flowers. We had the opportunity to sit down with Daniel Barbier, co-owner and founder of Maven Menswear.

What was your vision behind Maven Menswear? (give a brief summary of why you opened this store)

My wife, Christina Barbier, and I began Maven Menswear in 2011. With Christina’s 15+ years of experience in luxury retail and my business management experience, we wanted to create a concept that would give our customers in Lafayette the best of both worlds: a luxury shopping experience in a store with two price points. One price point is attainable to your average college student and we also offer higher end products for the more established professional.

Our Men’s concept has been extremely successful in the past two and a half years and has helped us to open our women’s version (Maven Womenswear) directly across the street from the men’s store. The women’s store has been open for about a year now and is based on the same values as the men’s store: offering unique fashions and styles and excellent customer service to the people of Lafayette.

What sets Maven Menswear apart from the other stores around it?

Maven brings a big city style to a small town. We wanted to carry different brands that weren’t available at other stores in Lafayette and some aren’t available in the state of Louisiana. We wanted to have cool, trendier clothes that cater to people of all ages with the same style.

What’s one item in your store that is your personal favorite?

It’s hard to say since I personally have purchased every item in the store and love them all. The wooden bow ties from Two Guys Bow Ties are definitely one of my top favorites through. They’re a really good conversation piece and will have you thanking people all night long for the compliments! When I first saw them on Uncrate.com, I knew they would be a perfect fit for our store ad I had to have them. I always tell people if a regular bow tie isn’t loud enough for you then the next step are the wooden ones from Two Guys Bow Ties.

Why do you think our Two Guys Bow Ties wooden bow ties and lapel flowers are a good fit for Maven Menswear?

The bow ties are a perfect fit for Maven. We have a very eclectic style and people who appreciate our style know that when they come into our store they will find fashions that are on trend and cool that will set them apart form the rest of the people they will be around when they are out at night or attending an event. I ordered this bow tie for my daughter’s grandfather who wears bow ties religiously and it is PERFECT! The Earl engraving was pristine with the polka dot. The edges are tapered down so it’s not just a chunk of wood. The wood is smooth and the fabric is clean, beautiful, and neatly attached. It arrived in a timely manner in a great magnetic close box, so presentation is fantastic. It’s wonderful and he’s going to love it!

There are four main wood types we offer as a part of our stock designs. These include: Walnut, Maple, Sapele, and Padauk (pictured below from left to right). The Walnut and Padauk woods are paired with a neutral gray centerpiece, while the Maple and Sapele wood types feature an eye-catching blue fabric. We know we don’t have to tell you that being boss of your backyard BBQ isn’t just about cooking some killer good meat. You’re also expected to jam good tunes, mix good drinks, and win any game played at your house including Cornhole or Washers. But you’ve also got to look good doing it all. When we moved to our new location here in Downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma in March, we knew we wanted a new store-front to be a part of it.

Over the past couple of years, our customers have often asked about a retail shop of our own that they’d be able to visit and see the product lines we offer, in person. However, conducting our business and creating everything in-house at a warehouse previously didn’t offer much room or flexibility for that. Thankfully, we’ve had our products in a large amount of other boutiques and shops nationwide where people could go to see them, but a shop of our own was something we looked forward to hopefully having in the future.

So after moving and becoming a part of the ever-growing Pearl District, we knew it would be the perfect time and place to finally make it happen.

We had a great time designing the shop, building unique displays and innovative pieces, as well as putting them all together it a way that we felt best represented our brand. Even though we didn’t quite finish it as quickly as we originally hoped (between getting the wood shop back up and running, new product launches, going to Market in Atlanta, and going through the process of getting on Shark Tank, our schedule left little room for our project), like everything else we create, we wanted to take the time to do it right and knew it was going to be worth the hard work and patience we put in.

And finally, on Saturday October 24th, we had our Grand Opening!

As a part of our celebration, we offered free custom back-etching on any bow tie purchased in our store, as well as giving away free sample bow ties to the first 50 customers who walked through the door. It was really great to see the overwhelming support and positive feedback we received as people from all over the state came to check out our newest addition and get in on the fun.

The photo above is a little sneak peek of our front desk. Designed using metal strips to mirror the look of wood grain, it was easily one of our most commented-on pieces.
